REPERTORY/ In the Fall

Since Trisha Brown’s passing in 2017, the Company has continued to bring her legacy to life through the large repertoire of work. From her beginnings in American post-modern dance to her works for the Opera, Trisha Brown profoundly redefined the landscape of choreographic creation through her fluid approach to movement. To celebrate the links forged between the choreographer and France, and to echo the influence of the American choreographer’s work today, the Trisha Brown Dance Company commissioned a new piece from Noé Soulier.

For the choreographer, “Brownian movement” thwarts the geometric paradigm of modern dance, requiring a profound decentering of physical reference points. Placing himself in dialogue with the work of Trisha Brown, he seeks to test the living archive of the company’s performers, while confronting them with the impulse of his own choreographic principles.
